Getting Reliable Dental Care Coverage
Healthy teeth are strongly connected to overall good health. Many studies show how diseased teeth and gums can lead to heart and digestive problems over a long period of time. These facts make it even more distressing to realize how many Americans have no access to dental care coverage.
With the economy declining, many employers have trimmed benefits packages to the bare bones and insurance companies are providing them with the means to do so like never before. No longer are premium services such as vision, chiropractic or dental care included in a standard
health insurance plan.
So, where do people turn to find reasonably priced and valuable
dental care coverage? Luckily there are many
affordable dental plans for individuals and families alike. These are far different from any family or
individual dental insurance plans however, and are far more similar to membership in a discount warehouse store or purchasing plan than anything else.
Are they a good idea? They are a fantastic idea, in fact they are far more beneficial to families and individuals because they guarantee dental coverage to any member, anywhere.
Dental discount plans provide their members with unquestionable service regardless of any pre-existing dental problems or health issues, they do not ask for many forms or claims documents, they do not institute a waiting period before providing full coverage and they do not place an annual maximum allowable amount of payment. Instead they are strong networks or pre-approved dentists and dental specialists who have created a set schedule of fees for the members of the plan. They honor any membership and provide services without question.
This means that a family in need of an
affordable dental plan could pay their annual membership fee (usually less than $150) and begin to visit the dentists or dental specialists they need that very day. While they would have to pay for each service provided or procedure done, this is no different than any traditional dental insurance coverage with co-payments applied to every visit. In fact, most
dental insurance plans only give a discount on the standard dental office rate as well, and this is usually quite close to the discount extended to the
discount dental plan members.
For instance, most insurance companies provide roughly fifty percent of the published prices for a dental practice. This means that in addition to their annual premium a person with a
dental insurance plan in Philadelphia would also have to pay half of the cost of the procedure or treatment they had done. A family with one of the Texas
discount dental plans however would receive, on average a thirty five to forty percent discount on the same procedure or treatment. This means only a ten percent difference in the amount due at the dental office, but an enormous difference in the amount paid to receive the discount – meaning the expensive insurance premium versus the inexpensive membership fee.
Clearly there are many resources for reliable dental care coverage, and the
dental discount plans are among the most beneficial.
